I was 4 minutes late for boarding to the gate in SanFrancisco. Six minutes before scheduled departure. The plane was still there, but I was not allowed to board. And after me, another 8 people came to the gate with the same issue.
Now, I am not a totally unreasonable person, and I do my best to be punctual at all times. Especially at the airport and especially in this day and age. But on this day, I was coming in from downtown SanFrancisco, and it was much more of an ordeal than I am used to. I willingly went through a body scan, and was patted down anyway because apparently my blouse was too 'blousy'. There was nothing on my person, nothing in my pockets, no belt. Nothing but clothing. Ladies, don't wear a mumu, to the airport, you'll end up having to lift it over your head. I guess there is no telling what is under that fabric. Well, I thought the scanner could tell, but apparently not.
I have flown for US Air for 23 years and remember a day and age when they bent over backwards to get you on a flight. On the rare occasion back in the eighties when I flew all of the time for work, US Air would happily do all they could to make sure their experience was positive. I remember once when I was very late, and the ticket agent called to the gate, told them I was coming, and someone came in a cart and rushed me to the gate. I don't expect service like that. But when you get service like that, you become a loyal customer.
Today, I could see the airplane sitting at the gate and was refused entrance. I will have to wait up to 7 hours in the SanFran airport to get home. USAirways can kiss my a$$. I will drive, or I will go jet blue. And I will never again have sympathy for US Airways wining about their profits. Airlines are selling a product. And if their customer service stinks, then they can suffer the consequences the same as any other for profit entity.
Yes, I really do have bumper stickers just like this. I am giving them away FREE! Email your snail-mail address to stranded@usairsucks.org and I will mail you a bumper sticker.
