I had no idea there was a 45 minute rule. Vicki arrived ONLY 37 minutes before the flight was to depart and they did not let her board! Vicki writes:
Thanks for your website, I can use the sympathy right now!
Thanks to US Airways for ruining our trip to see my in-laws in Arizona. Gee, we were late: we got to check-in 37 minutes before take off. That's good enough for any other airline that we've ever taken out of Seattle. But not US Airways. If you aren't there 45 minutes early you are cut off! We didn't even have any luggage to check! There was nothing the counter could do to help us, their system shuts down at 45 minutes. I couldn't believe that our plane would be taking off with our empty seats for no good reason. The clerk was trying to be helpful but there was nothing she could do. They had no other flight open and there was no other flight on any allied airline available. She set us up with tickets for 11:30 AM, but I've wasted my entire evening and I'm at home right now complaining about how evil they are.
I have never, ever been cut off at check-in that early. She said it was "posted on their website" but if you go to their website you have to dig for it. In our email confirmation you have to click several times just to find the 45 minute rule and even then it doesn't clearly state that there is no flexibility. Other airlines usually warn you that your reservation MAY be cancelled if you aren't there 30 minutes early, but I have never seen them actually do it.
If they had clearly warned us about this strict rule we certainly would have been there earlier. But we didn't even know about it.
Once again, thanks for nothing US Airways!
