We don't care, just check it!

So today I got to my us airways flight at laguardia about 45 min early with my carry on that I have used for 5 years. At security us airways has several workers standing in front with a miniature measure for bags and tell me I have to check my bag. I am telling you that my laptop bag barely passed the test. They refused to let me through and sent me to the counter. The counter told me it was now too late to check a bag. They made me both pay 25 dollars for a checked bag and go on a later flight. Unbelievable. This was after I shipped several Christmas gifts home so I could avoid checking a bag. I hate this airline.
