Hello, I am Tracy Reed. On June 12, 2009 US Airways ruined our vacation. When my wife accidentally left her ID on a US Airways flight which was then retrieved by a crewmember their staff treated us badly and refused to issue her a boarding pass for her next flight even though they had her ID in their possession. Read My Story here.

With the help of FFOCUS I was able to get compensation for my out of pocket expenses and a refund for the leg of the flight they messed up. But I won't be getting back the lost day of my vacation.

Questions left unanswered are:

  • Who was responsible for this mess? They admitted that it shouldn't have gone down that way. So who screwed up?
  • What is being done to prevent this from happening again? Seems like some form of employee training is in order.
  • What is the official policy and what was supposed to happen in this situation?
  • Why do they even ask for ID at all when their competition does not?

Note: There is no TSA or FAA regulation saying you must have ID to board an airplane. United, American, Southwest, TSA, will all let you fly with absolutely no ID. My wife ended up doing just that with American. Keep that in mind as you read the following. Also reference:

Wow, there are a LOT of anti-US Airways pages and blog entries on the net. I will attempt to link to the ones that are brought to my attention here.

I am far from the first to have problems...

  • Another (dis)satisfied customer...
  • "No seats could be found for this reservation number." Hey, this sounds familiar!
  • This guy sat next to the CEO and the service still sucked.
  • More poor service, item stolen from bag.
  • More problems...
  • Ok, I give up. There are too many. You can find the rest here: 55,900 hits for the exact phrase "us airways sucks"!
  • And there are also too many youtube videos on the matter to link...
